Aino Korvensyrjä was a research fellow for the project “Flucht- und Flüchtlingsforschung: Vernetzung und Transfer (FFVT)“. He is hosted at the Centre for Human Rights Erlangen-Nürnberg (CHREN). She is doing her PhD in Social Sciences (Social Anthropology) at the University of Helsinki, Finland. Her dissertation examines conflicts over law enforcement in the German asylum and deportation regime from the perspective of migrant struggles.
Korvensyrjä’s research interests include borders, policing, justice, critical migration and racism research, anthropology and sociology of the state and law, and analyses from migrant movements. She teaches at FU Berlin in the European Studies Program, and is researching a new research project on institutional racism in the justice system in Berlin from January 2023.
Korvensyrjä is and has been active in various networks that critically monitor and document racist police violence, racism in the justice system, deportation and externalisation of border regimes, including Justizwatch, migrationcontrol.info and Culture of Deportation. She is also a member of kritnet (Network for Critical Migration and Border Regime Research).
