Spring Debate Hosted by the Bavarian Industry Association (Section Middle Franconia)
This year’s spring meeting hosted by the Bavarian Industry Association and its section Middle Franconia engaged with the future of the European single market. In her guest lecture, Prof. Dr Sandra Eckert, Chair of Comparative Politics, analysed the decision-making process of the European Union and addressed the common criticism of over-regulation by Europe. Using selected examples, the speaker was able to show that this criticism is not always fact-based and justified. In addition, in the current context of growing populism and increasing geopoliticisation, the question arises as to how the rule-making capacity and thus also the regulatory power of the EU can be maintained in international rule-making competition.
