New DFG Project on Foundation Myths and End-Time Narratives in Russian Imperialism
As part of the DFG research group “Aitiologies”, Prof. Eva Hausteiner‘s chair will be researching a narrative pattern of current Russian imperialism that is central to the war in Ukraine: so-called “neo-Eurasianism”. Neo-Eurasianists claim an everlasting conflict between “Eurasia” and “the West”, mythicising its origins and evoking its eschatological dissolution. The project will examine the legitimation strategies of neo-Eurasianism in terms of political theory and intellectual history.
