Participation in G7 Science Minister Meeting
Prof. Dr. Katrin Kinzelbach was one of four German scholars invited to take part in this year’s G7 Summit of Science Ministers in Frankfurt. She gave a keynote on academic freedom, covering individual freedom to research and teach, universities’ institutional autonomy, as well as academic integrity and democratic responsibility in transnational research collaboration. Delegates discussed the complex issue of sanctions in the realm of science as well as the urgent need to support universities and scholars in and from Ukraine. The Ukrainian science minister was connected via video link from Kiev. In their final communiqué, G7 states stressed solidarity with Ukraine and emphasised their commitment to academic freedom, among other points.
